The New York Times recently published that scientists at Washington University in St. Louis have devised the most sensitive blood test for Alzheimer’s yet. It tests for beta amyloid, the protein that is most associated with Alzheimer’s disease. While it is not a perfect predictor, it can predict the beta amyloid earlier than expensive PET scans, as well as earlier and more accurately than symptomatic diagnoses.

Alzheimer’s research has come a long way, and breakthroughs like this are fantastic. Read the New York Times article about it here.
